5 ways to date yourself

5 ways to spend some much deserved alone time! <3

hello my lovely! i hope you’re having a beautiful february so far!

time is flying by, and i can’t believe we’re already this far into the month! today, i’m diving into a new series i launched on valentine’s day called the date yourself series. i thought, what better time to share this than on a day that can make some of us feel a little lost or maybe even a bit unloved. but if you did feel that way, please remember—you deserve to feel all the love in the world, always.

if you’re curious about the inspiration behind this series, check out my intro post (trust me, it’s a cute read)!

now that you’re back, let’s dive into some ideas on how you can date yourself this month! some are simple, some are a little outside the box, but i hope you find something that inspires you to take yourself on a lovely little date soon.

1. plan a picnic

we’ve all seen those dreamy pinterest picnics that make you crave a day out in the sun, but it can be hard to coordinate schedules with friends. so, why not plan one just for you? it doesn’t have to be anything fancy—grab some fruit, cheese, and a baguette, and voila! you’ve got yourself a picnic. find a cute spot at your local park, bring a book (or anything else that makes you happy), and enjoy the simplicity of a solo afternoon.

grab some books, some snacks & enjoy an afternoon in the sun!

2. go to the movies

okay, real talk—i haven’t tried this one myself yet because i rarely think to go to the movies in general. but honestly, going alone could be so freeing. after all, you don’t really need company during a movie (you’re not talking anyway!). treat yourself to a bucket of popcorn, grab your favorite candy (or two), and get comfy. it’s a perfect way to enjoy your own company without feeling too alone.

3. mini wine tasting

i know what you’re thinking—why would i go out for a drink by myself? but hear me out. this doesn’t have to be a night of getting tipsy. it’s more about the experience. check out a local wine bar to see if they offer tastings. if not, get creative and DIY your own! order one glass with an appetizer, then switch it up with another pairing. you might just find your new favorite combo. bonus: now you’ve got a great place to suggest for the next friend’s night out!

4. virtual cooking class

this one’s a little thrifty but so much fun! look up a recipe you’ve been dying to try or follow along with a chef you love on youtube. make it feel like a real cooking class by putting on an apron, turning up some themed music, and getting in the zone. you’ll learn something new and have a delicious meal to enjoy—all on your own terms.

try to make something that has always been on your bucket list! for me, it was this olive rosemary focaccia!

5. arts & crafts afternoon

are you getting enough creative time in your life? (i’ll answer for you—no, because there’s never enough time for arts and crafts). but you don’t need to go overboard on supplies. work with what you have, or try a fun DIY project you’ve been putting off. maybe paint an old picture frame to match your room’s vibe or customize some candlesticks with cute little symbols like hearts or bows. feeling extra crafty? grab some quick-dry clay and make a custom candle holder. the possibilities are endless!

these are just a few of my (100+) ideas for dating yourself. i truly hope you found some inspiration to take yourself on a date this week—or at least soon! thank you for reading, my lovely darling. there’s so much more to come in this series, so stay tuned!

until next time,
xoxo,
avalon
