january get-together ideas

One of my resolutions this year is to have a get-together with my friends at least once a month. Last year, I managed to host one almost every month, but this year, I’m making it an intentional goal. Whether it’s a cozy movie night with my roommates and a few friends or a bigger gathering, I’m determined to get together with my loved ones at least once a month.

With that in mind, I’m excited to launch my new series, Always Better with Company, where each month I’ll share fun and creative ideas to make your get-togethers extra special. Whether you’re planning a low-key hangout or something a bit more unique, I want to inspire you to prioritize those quality moments with friends. I’ve already started planning out some ideas for the whole year—though, of course, they’re all subject to change! I can’t wait to share these with you.

Spending time with those we care about is so nourishing for our souls, and it’s one of the best ways to strengthen relationships. So, each month, I’ll be bringing you fresh ideas to make your time together a little more exciting than the typical hangout.

Here are some of my ideas for January:

1. Soup Exchange Night

Soup! Soup! Soup! Let’s be real—who doesn’t love a good soup? (Okay, maybe not everyone, but most of us!) Soup is making a serious comeback, especially in the colder months, and it’s perfect for a cozy night in. Why not plan a little soup potluck with your friends? You can bring your favorite classic, or try something new like lasagna soup. There are endless options for soup combinations, so there’s something for everyone. And don’t forget to pair it with fresh bread and grilled cheese for the ultimate comfort food experience!

2. Manifesting Mood Board Night

What better way to kick off the year than by creating a mood board? This is the perfect get-together for January, as it helps you align your goals and intentions for the year. Gather your friends, make a snack board, put on some nostalgic tunes, and print out aesthetic pictures from Instagram. Visualize and manifest your dreams for the year ahead in a fun, creative way!

3. Aesthetic Wine Bar Hopping

I know it’s cold outside, but hear me out—why not dress up in your favorite fur jacket or those knee-high boots you’ve been dying to wear and explore some of the most aesthetic wine or cocktail bars in your area? This doesn’t have to be a bougie event (though that’s fun too!). Think of it as a higher-end version of a bar crawl, where you visit a couple of bars with a more aesthetic vibe, all while making memories with your closest friends. It’s the perfect way to elevate a night out! & don’t forget your digital camera to capture the memories!

4. Crafty Hobby Night

Why not start a new hobby this year? It doesn’t have to be something huge like learning to play the piano—it could be something as simple as coloring in a book or trying out a craft project. Head over to Pinterest, search for “simple crafts,” and maybe even add “aesthetic” to the search for inspiration. There are tons of affordable and easy craft ideas to explore. From making clay ring bowls to trying the “paint each other” challenge, there are so many creative and fun activities to enjoy with your friends.

These are just a few ideas to make your first month of the year extra special. Even when it’s hard to leave the house during this time of year, there are plenty of things you can do at home. And for those of you not participating in Dry January, why not jump on TikTok and find some of the best aesthetic bars near you?

The most important thing is to prioritize time with your friends this year. Don’t put it off—make room for these moments, because in the end, they’ll be good for all of you!

xoxo,

Avalon
